Minimum Experience/EducationBachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, EducationGraduation from a four-year college/university with one year of general administrative experience involving public contact, oral and written communication, and the interpretation of program policy and procedures preferably in the field of teaching, student services, or a related educational capacity; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Supervisor prefers 2 – 3 years of experience in financial aid or enrollment management. The successful applicant should possess exceptional written and oral communication skills, exhibit confidence while interfacing with a variety of customers; ability to conduct workshops and possess good leadership; skilled in applying information technology techniques (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel) to complete tasks and working knowledge of the Financial Aid Banner System. Dimensions desired: self-starter requiring minimal supervision, able to handle multiply tasks, process- oriented, make decisions independently; pay close attention to details; apply regulations with accuracy; possess good interpersonal skills to deal effectively with a diverse student population; applies knowledge of University academic programs and student services; ability to interpret financial details is key; ability to plan and organize cyclic work in order to meet target dates is important to the daily operation.

Primary Purpose Of PositionThe Enrollment Services Officer serves on the Enrollment Services team in the Student Financial Aid Office.

Primary Function Of Organizational UnitThe mission of the Student Financial is to provide quality service in a professional and compassionate manner to students and other customers while assuring the University’s compliance with Federal, State and Institutional regulations. This position reports to the Associate Director of Student Financial Aid.

Work Hours 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. Mon-Fri

Required Competency Client/Customer Service

DutiesCounsels with students and parents on institutional, state and federal student financial aid programs, as well as information on alternative sources and methods of financing educational costs. Conducts financial aid workshops. Conducts loan sessions with students. The candidate must develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers. Listen and respond effectively to the customer.

Required Competency Project Management

DutiesAssists in completion of required state and federal reports; assists with development and implementation of policies and procedures; assists with budget and coordinates activities and reconciliation of various financial aid programs. The incumbent performs other administrative support functions that strengthen the effectiveness of the Student Financial Aid Program. The incumbent attends informational awareness sessions to stay abreast of changing Financial Aid regulations. Addresses and resolves routine service matters, referring to higher authority for issues outside standard operating procedures The candidate must identify and understand student service issues, client needs and matters of a recurring nature to effectively address and resolve the issue. Initiates creative programming to engage student participation. Collects, researches and analyzes information for processing, monitoring or measuring data. Develops some internal processes and prioritizes workload. Generates non-standard reports. May function as a team member of more than one student service program team or specific area of expertise. May assign and review the work of others. Mentors and assists others in various areas of technical expertise. Conducts training for groups and individuals.

Required Competency Decision Making

DutiesAwards financial aid in accordance with Federal State and institutional guidelines. Reviews special circ*mstances and independent appeals. The incumbent applies multiple regulations to complete assignments (i.e. compliance with the Privacy Act). The candidate must have knowledge and use of effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions and/or reaching conclusions. Takes action consistent with available facts, constraints and anticipated consequences.

DutiesPerforms verification procedures, reviews financial aid records for eligibility requirements; reviews Satisfactory Academic Progress; audits files, develops and disseminates financial aid information to a diverse public. The position utilizes information technology in completing daily tasks. Collects and inputs data and performs research and analysis for supervisory review. Assists with program improvements. Adheres to university, state, and federal confidentiality regulations. Assists with program improvements and documentation.
